Old Slave Mart Museum
“A small place with a great history”
At 6 Chalmers street, constructed in 1859, it is considered the last extant slave auction facility in SC. with a Romanesque architecture style.
It tells the story of the “history of enslaved people “from the beginning of civil war to its end.
The Old Slave Mart was added to the National Register of Historic Places for its role in Charleston’s African-American history.
